No matter how meticulously you plan and schedule any powerboat photo shoot, two variables—weather and no-shows—can shut you down. And the fun part? You can’t control either of them.
Thanks to a picture-perfect photo shoot in Key West, Fla., this outrageous Statement Marine 350 Open center console and more will be showcased in the upcoming 2021 Speed On The Water Year In Review issue. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.
Organize such a shoot during the first full week of November in Key West, Fla., the busiest go-fast boating week of the year in the famed city at the end of the road, and your odds of failure compound. We know this from experience as for the past seven years we have organized them to nail down the final images for our Year In Review issue.
But this time around, good fortune shined—even though the sun sometimes didn’t—during our Friday afternoon and Saturday morning photo sessioins Speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden and contributing photographer Jeff Helmkamp delivered some of our best Key West photo shoot images to date.
Among Boden’s subjects were three models from Statement Marine of St. Petersburg, Fla., two center consoles and one catamaran, and all photographed beautifully in the late afternoon light. But we could only pick one, and the 35-footer owned by Louisiana’s David Lavie was the best choice.
