Year In Review Sneak Peek: MTI 390X Hotness

Of all the boats we couldn’t wait to see in person during our early November Key West, Fla., photo shoot for the 2021 Speed On The Water Year In Review collectible print addition, Michael Ciasulli’s MTI 390X catamaran was at—or at least very near—the top of the list. First, the New Jersey-based performance-boat man is never shy with colors—he leans toward red and he leans toward bold—and his boats tend to shoot really well. Second, we are big fans of Mark Morris, the gifted artist who handled the boat’s wild color scheme and the man behind the Visual Imagination graphics shop in Missouri.

Ciasulli told us that the photos he sent for our story on the 39-footer’s completion and delivery just in time for the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run didn’t do justice to the finished product. And we knew he was right.

But the ones speedonthewater.com chief photographer Peter Boden captured in Key West do.

Unadulterated hotness—that’s a worthy description of Michael Ciasulli’s MTI 390X catamaran. Photo by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.

For Ciasulli, getting those images meant showing up in his cat for the late-Friday-afternoon photo session That’s no small thing given all the distractions of Key West. But with a few friends in tow, he was right where he needed to be when the helicopter carrying Boden arrived overhead and he signaled Ciasulli to start running.

The predominantly red 39-footer has blue and green accents in its color scheme. As it happened, so did the waters of Key West had similar cool hues that afternoon, and the resulting images—as you can see from the photo above—were breathtaking.

Just imagine how they will look in an oversized, 196-page magazine printed with meticulous care and quality, and no expense spared.

Ciasulli’s MTI 390 is one many fine creations showcased in the 2021 Speed On Water Year In Review magazine, which goes to the print early next month. Click here to order yours now, because we only print 5,000 copies. And when they’re gone, they’re gone.
