Wozencraft World Tour Photo Gallery No. 5: Scenes From The LEOPA Thunderfest Poker RunIn the end, the 2018 version of Ron Szolack’s Skaterfest last weekend topped out at more than 40 boats, a bit shy of the original 50-boat estimate but more than enough to set an attendance record and keep Devin Wozencraft busy during several days in Harrison Township, Mich. Fresh from the LEOPA Thunder Fest event in Ohio, the Southern California-based insurance man was more than happy mingle with a smaller group of Skater Powerboats catamaran owners, many of whom are his customers.

While speedonthewater.com shooting ace Pete Boden—on scene to capture Skaterfest as usual—always brings home the professional images required for the website, digital magazine and annual Year In Review Edition (we’re already working on that), Wozencraft functions as more a roving-but-talented amateur photo journalist. He keeps the trigger button on his camera down most of the time and trains his eye on whatever strikes his fancy, which in turns tells the personal story of his latest adventure.

Next up for Wozencraft is next weekend’s Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Super Cat Fest in Central Missouri, and we’re looking forward to seeing—and editing (OK, maybe we’re not looking forward to that nightmare but photo-editing is part of job)—his myriad images. Unless Wozencraft decides to hit the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run, there are just a couple of more stops including the Lake Cumberland Poker Run in Kentucky on his 2018 World Tour. (If you really want to go international next year, Mr. Wozencraft, there are six poker runs in Sweden and a couple in Denmark you might want to check out.)
