Although high-performance marine insurance man Devin Wozencraft won’t have his 30-foot Skater Powerboats catamaran—seen at poker runs from Southern California to Upstate New York during the 2018 season—in the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run next month, he will have a significant presence in the weeklong celebration of aquatic speed in the city at the end of the road. That’s because the head of the popular insurance company that bears his name has stepped up as the official food sponsor for the annual Speedonthewater.com/Offshoreonly.com Key West bash Nov. 8 at the Sandbar Sports Grill.

For the past five years, speedonthewater.com has hosted a party on Thursday night in Key West during the FPC poker run week and Super Boat International Offshore World Championships. Three years ago, the daily high-performance boating news website joined forces in the event with offshoreonly.com, the world’s leading online high-performance boating community.
Open to the public, last year’s party attracted approximately 300 guests. As it has for the last two years, the upcoming event will include a live auction, raffle items, drink specials, free T-shirts (while supplies last) and a complimentary buffet, courtesy of Wozencraft this year.
“So many of my customers, like Dennis Raia who has a new MTI V-42 center console, go to the Key West events,” said Wozencraft, who is hosting an event of his own on Lake Havasu in Arizona this weekend. “I wanted to do something to show them I appreciate them and their business.”
Wozencraft also said he is particularly delighted to support the event, which raises money for Key West-based Samuel’s House, a nonprofit organization that provides “a safe haven in a sober setting for women and intact families that have no home,” for its worthy cause as well as its celebration of the go-fast boating community.
The annual SOTW/OSO Key West Bash always attracts a big crowd that includes high-performance marine industry notables.
“The Speedonthewater party has been such a success every year,” he said. “It’s become the best party in Key West. So I definitely wanted to be part of it, not just was a participant again but as a sponsor.”
