Whipple Releases ‘Modular’ Port-Injected Big-Block Intake Manifold

Developed for both its current and upcoming supercharger kits—soon-to-be-released marine packages include those for out-of-warranty Mercury Racing 520, 540 and 565 engines—Whipple Superchargers’ new modular-design, port-injected big-block intake manifold is the first aftermarket product of its kind, according to Dustin Whipple of the Fresno, Calif.-based company. The new intake manifold fits all 671 through 1471 roots-type superchargers and all Whipple superchargers with 671 bolt patterns. Thanks to its universal 671 top bolt pattern, the manifold also can be adapted to a variety of turbocharger and centrifugal supercharger applications.

Prices for the new manifold start at $1,895 and it is available in several colors, as well as standard chrome.

“It has a low profile and gives just about everybody with a big-block engine the ability to convert to port fuel injection, which can be up to 50 percent more efficient than throttle body injection,” said Whipple. “The manifold is available with or without an intercooler, and works with all of our existing kits. And it will be part of the new kits for the 520, the 540 and 565 Mercury Racing engines. ”

According the company’s website, the port-injected intake manifold features options for one injector per cylinder or two for the ultra-high-horsepower applications. The manifold also features an optional low-profile oversized intercooler core that does not add height to the application.
