Waves And Wheels End-Of-Summer Fun Run Ready To Roll

For several good reasons, Waves and Wheels principal Justin Wagner schedules his annual fun run at the Lake of the Ozarks after Labor Day weekend. The daily bustle of the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout week is long gone, as are the big crowds that come with it. For the most part, the Central Missouri waterway is far calmer and waterfront hotspots are less jammed than they are on any given summer weekend.

And unlike the steam-bath it can be from June through August, the weather leans toward flawless.

Wagner is going for chill with the intimate happening, and that’s exactly what the Waves and Wheels End-O-Summer Fun Run, set for September 16, is known for among locals as well as out-of-towners savvy enough to put it on their late-season event schedules. The Saturday trek is celebrating its seventh anniversary this year and current weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies and a high temperature of 77 degrees.

The fun begins with a 10 a.m. “meet-and-greet” at The Boardwalk at Waves and Wheels in Osage Beach. From there the fleet heads to Big Dick’s Halfway Inn and takes over the place until 12:30 p.m. before departing for a pool party at Lazy Gators, which is slated to run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

All of the action will be captured via aerial photography.

Registration is required—and still open. Cost is $100 per boat. Captains can register by visiting the Waves and Wheels website.
