Although he’s technically already attended and/or sponsored several 2022 events at his company’s home base of Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri as well as one in Kentucky, Chris Wagner of WIA Marine Insurance recently returned from the MTI Owners Fun Run to The Bahamas that kick-started what he anticipates being a busy summer season.

Wagner and his lovely wife, Christy, joined their friends from Lake of the Ozarks—Precision Paint Worx’s Les and Kayla Voudrie in their MTI-V 42 luxury performance center console—for the six-day adventure with several other members of the MTI family. And, according to Wagner, the island-hopping experience was extremely memorable and extra refreshing being that a majority of his boating adventures don’t end up being vacations with his better half.
“That was the trip of a lifetime, no doubt,” Wagner said. “In my mind that’s the only way to see The Bahamas; because when you run your own boat over there, you can stop at so many places along the way. I mean if you were on a charter trip, you wouldn’t be able to see half of the things we saw because we had our own boat.
“The whole trip, from the people to the MTI team’s organization, was amazing, plus Les and Kayla were great hosts,” he added. “It really wasn’t work at all for Christy and me. We checked in with work stuff, but I wasn’t there to try to sell insurance. I did enjoy getting to hang out with a few of our clients, like Alan Wise from Tennessee—he’s a lot of fun.”

Following two local events—the Performance Boat Center-organized Spring Fun Run in May and the Offshore Powerboat Association-sanctioned Lake Race in early June—Wagner is glad he got the time away because his weekends during the next couple of months are going to be busy, starting with the Support Our Troops Poker Run hosted by Big Thunder Marine this afternoon at the lake.
“I’ve sponsored Support Our Troops from the beginning,” said Wagner, who is joining WIA client Michael McClallen today for the run and has a booth set up at this evening’s dinner party at Dog Days Bar and Grill. “Pretty much every event coming up at the lake, we’re a sponsor of or will be attending, whether it’s me or WIA insurance agent Jessica Moore. It’s been almost a year since Jessica started with us and she’s doing really well. She’s been a great asset because she travels to events with her boyfriend, Rusty Williams of Performance Boat Center, so she’ll also be at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show and the Key West Poker Run and offshore world championships in the fall.”

Between Wagner and Moore, event participants at the lake can expect to see at least one WIA representative in July at Aquapalooza, Big Thunder Marine’s BFD Fun Run and Performance Boat Center’s Outboard Fun Run. Then in August, the team will once again play a big part in the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and all of its ancillary events. WIA is sponsoring the poker run and the Shootout on the Strip and is also resuming its role manning the start boat during the Shootout.
In the fall, Wagner and Moore are planning to be part of the Waves and Wheels End Of Summer Fun Run, the Performance Boat Center Fall Fun Run and any other events that come up between now and then.
For any insurance-related questions, Wagner, who is currently trying to hire another agent because business has been increasing steadily, said he and Moore can be reached via phone or email, or at any of the events mentioned above.
