Because I made the trip to central Missouri for the 24th annual the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout, I had to take the opportunity to catch up with Justin Wagner, owner of Waves and Wheels in Lake of the Ozarks, and check out the Ironman-themed Hustler Powerboats 377 Talon.

Fortunately Wagner had some time on Friday to walk me through some of the boat’s clever features and take my family and me for a ride in the 37-foot catamaran with twin Mercury Racing HP575SCi engines. I have to admit that it was pretty awesome to see Wagner’s dream boat in person since I’ve been following the project through Wagner and his crew for the past six months. It also was nice to just hang out with Wagner and his family while taking in some of the spectacular sights and sounds of the SuperCat Fest held at Camden on the Lake.

Since we had our kids on board (hence the picture of my 2-year-old daughter practicing her boat-driving skills below) we weren’t out to see what the boat was capable of performance wise. Wagner did inform me that he will be upgrading the engines with a Superchiller Intercooler kit from Teague Custom Marine, so I’m sure the boat will have some serious punch in the near future.

Overall, I was impressed with the level of detail and thought that went into the boat. From the motorized bow pod featuring six Focal speakers, four Kicker horns, a huge light-up Arc Reactor, .377-caliber Gatling guns and target lock lasers to the Stark Industries diagram inside the engine compartment, the creativity was off the charts. The Ironman vision lights in the fairing and the pulsar rays on the transom were an awesome touch as well.

As far as the audio system goes, I don’t know if there is a boat out there with the sound quality and amplification that blasts out Ironman’s 14 cockpit speakers and twin 15-inch subwoofers, not to mention the “classified” setup Wagner has blasting through speaker grilles in the transom. But that is Waves and Wheels specialty so it’s no surprise.
