With the 2017 season Super Boat International Manufacturer 4-class world championships and national titles under its belt, Team Allen Lawn Care and Landscaping is saying farewell to its 30-foot Phantom V-bottom and moving into a 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran. The Des Moines, Iowa-based team will campaign the canopied cat powered by twin Mercury Racing 300XS outboard engines in the Super Stock class on the Offshore Powerboat Association circuit and SBI Stock class, as well as the planned Race World Offshore events.
Starting this season, Team Allen Lawn Care and Landscaping will compete in the Super Stock class its new 32-foot Doug Wright catamaran.
Performance Boat Center of Osage Beach, Mo., is handling the 32-footer’s cockpit setup and rigging. The exclusive dealer of Wright Performance Powerboats 360 sport catamarans, Performance Boat Center also handled the cockpit setup and rigging for the CR Racing team’s 32-foot Doug Wright cat, which completed its rookie season in SBI’s Stock class in 2017.
“The encouragement to advance in class came from so many sources and it reflected the commitment to excellence by the team,” said Billy Allen, the team owner and throttleman, in a press release. “One such recognition came from the SBI World Championships in Key West, when Superboat International presented the team with the prestigious all-class award for Outstanding Performance.”
“Last year was remarkable,” said Andrei Allen, the owner’s 20-year-old son who drives for the team, in the release. “We finished first in every event that we ran in, except our first outing. The competition in Super Stock is much higher, so it will be a very challenging and interesting year.”
