Based in North Victoria, Australia, Nizpro Marine is set to release its supercharger upgrade kit for out-of-warranty six-cylinder, 4.2-liter Yamaha outboard engines. According to information on the company’s website, the direct-fit kit can be installed in a few hours and—with seven pounds of boost—ups power output of Yamaha’s V-6 Offshore and V-6 VMAX SHO outboards to 450 hp at 5,200 rpm.
The key to the kit for Yamaha’s V-6 outboards is its Eaton TVS R1900 root-style supercharger (click image for full frame).
From the factory, Yamaha’s V-6 VMAX SHO series is offered in 200-, 225- and 250-hp versions. The V-6 Offshore series boast 225-, 250- and 300-hp models.
The key to the kit is its Eaton TVS R1900 root-style supercharger. According to Nizpro, the TVS supercharger’s “patented design features four-lobe rotors and high-flow inlet and outlet ports that greatly enhance thermal efficiency, deliver higher volumetric capacity, and enable higher operating speeds. The TVS supercharger reportedly is capable of running with a high thermal efficiency (up to 76 percent) across a very wide operating range.
“The superchargers twin four-lobe rotors feature 160-degree twists. The higher helix angle of the rotors coupled with a redesigned inlet and outlet ports, improves the TVS’s air-handling characteristics without increasing the overall size of the unit. The TVS improved noise and vibration characteristics eliminate additional noise-reduction treatments, complexity and system cost”
Nizpro has not released a price or a release date for its supercharger kit. Additional technical information and contact information is available on the company’s website.
