It’s been a long time—some 15 years—since Sunsation Boats had an owners event on its home-waters of Lake St. Clair. That will change come August 4 as the 40-year-old, Algonac, Mich.-based high-performance center console company will hold a daylong, multi-stop Sunsation Fun Run for its customers from around the country.

Registration for the event opened today. There is no charge to enter—the only requirement is that participants own a Sunsation model and sign up for the run.
A locally based owner of a breathtaking Sunsation 40 CCX center console powered by triple Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines and painted by Stephen Miles Design, brand-ambassador Dave Burgess will be among the participants.
“I am absolutely going to be there,” said Burgess. “I love (Sunsation Boats founders) Wayne and Joe Schaldenbrand. I have known them my entire boating life. Sunsation is a family business, just like mine, and for the first time in my boating life I got to build a boat just 15 miles from my home. I think I have the only Sunsation 40 CCX in Michigan—I know it was the first one in the state.”
Long- and short-course formats will offered to participants and both will be captured via helicopter-based photography. The day will conclude with a raft-up on Munchies Bay.
“We are stoked to get as many Sunsations as we can on the run and honored to have Speed On The Water and Mercury Racing sponsoring the event,” said Brad DiMaggio, Sunsation’s marketing manager. “We’re looking forward to a great turn-out.
DiMaggio paused, then laughed. “And registration is free as long as you bring a Sunsation,” he added.
