Joining the growing ranks of performance-oriented center console builders equipping their models with 400-hp Verado outboard engines from Mercury Racing, Sunsation Powerboats in Algonac, Mich., is putting the finishing touches on its first 34 CCX offering with triple 400R powerplants. The 34-footer was sold to a first-time Sunsation buyer through UnRiehl Sunsation in Warren, Mich., during the 2015 Miami International Boat Show in February.
This striking 34-footer is the first Sunsation model to be equipped with Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines.
Testing is scheduled to begin later this week or early next week, according to Sunsation’s Joe Schaldenbrand.
“It should run close to 85 mph,” he said. “That would be a good benchmark.”
In addition to its white-hot power packages, the striking, all-black 34-footer with “ghosted graphics” is loaded with goodies including 26 speakers for its massive JL Audio system, according to Schaldenbrand. The boat also features an extensive LED lighting system.
“There are LED lights everywhere you could think to put an LED light,” said Schaldenbrand. “It really is one heck of a piece.”
Editor’s note: Speedonthewater.com will provide an update on the Verado 400R-equipped Sunsation 34 CCX after its first on-water tests are complete.
