When it comes to Sunday Fun Day, my wife, Britney, and I don’t get too creative but we always have a good time. I like to get up early and take the MTI out by myself. We are blessed to live right on the Tennessee River—on the Chickamauga Lake section—and from one dam to the other is 55 miles so I can get out there and open it up a little without having to worry about too many people being out on the water. I don’t run real fast, but I feel more comfortable running a little harder when there’s no one else in the boat with me.
Once I get back home, we like to have some friends come over for lunch by the pool and then we head back out on the water. We have a lot of little mini coves and sloughs you can hang out in, but our favorite is Paradise Cove. We usually meet up with some other boaters and hang out for most of the afternoon. We’re also lucky to have several restaurants on the water to visit so we usually get some dinner before we head home, put the boat on the hoist and watch the sunset.

One of our favorite places to visit is Steve’s Landing Waterfront Grill, which is about 20 miles upriver in Soddy Daisy. They are famous for their ribs and catfish. They have great Southern cooking and a nice little porch to hang out and eat dinner.
Editor’s note: The owner of Project Mayhem, a 38-foot MTI catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing 1100 engines, performance boat enthusiast Mark Godsey got married to his lovely wife, Britney, in May. The Chattanooga resident has owned several boats, including a Fountain Powerboats 42 Poker Run Edition, a 38-foot Awesome cat and a Formula Boats 312 FAS3Tech.
