For speedonthewater.com contributing photograher and author Jimmy Biro, the perfect Sunday Fun Day means hopping into his 29-foot LaveyCraft NuEra sportboat with his wife, Laura, “and whoever else can make it” and heading from Long Beach, Calif, to Catalina Island.
“We head for the Harbor Reef Restaurant at Two Harbors for a Buffalo Milk,” said Biro. “A Buffalo Milk is a famous adult beverage on the island.”
From Lake Havasu in Arizona to Catalina Island off Southern California, this LaveyCraft 29’ NuEra transports frequent speedonthewater.com contributor Jimmy Biro and his crew.
Conditions allowing, the 29-mile trip to the island typically takes Biro and company approximately 30 minutes in his 29-footer, which is powered by a Mercury Racing 575 SCi engine that he upgraded to 700 hp with a Teague Custom Marine Super Chiller kit.
“Our top speed out there can be 80 mph, but we typically average 65 mph,” said Biro. “However, Mammoth Mountain has snow so this weekend I’ll be ‘snorkeling’ in the powder.”
