Thanks to being retired for almost a year and a half, most days are like a Sunday Fun Day for Bob Nixon and his wife, Holly. After moving full time to Boulder City, Nev., from Southern California, the Nixons are able to enjoy their Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SV 43 anytime they feel like it on the expansive Lake Mead.

Whether they have friends or family joining them, Bob Nixon said a typical fun day for him and his wife consists of a drive through the Narrows followed by meeting up with several other friends on Long Beach, a popular spot on the Colorado River-fed lake. He said they mainly like to socialize—“boat and float,” he calls it—and of course, drive the 43-footer that is powered by a pair of supercharged electronic fuel-injected 1,200-hp engines from Teague Custom Marine in Valencia, Calif.

“In my opinion, there’s no such thing as a bad day on the water—just some days are better than others,” said Bob Nixon, adding that his favorite time of the year at the lake is April though October. “We used to boat every other weekend so we would make the most out of each day on the water. Now that we can take the boat out all the time, we don’t always boat for as long.”

Nixon, who has owned three Outerlimits models, said he likes to haul his boat to a few events a year, including the annual Desert Storm Poker Run in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and the Big Cat Poker Run in Discovery Bay, Calif.
