Many of us in New Jersey have made it a weekend ritual to do a fun run almost every weekend. The positives? Great friends, great lunch runs and very memorable days—and we usually end up at our good friend Anthony Sauta’s house to “unwind” from the day.
The negatives? Only one—there are just two days on a weekend. But then, some of us can do a day run during the week. Atlantic City is a great run. In fact, the recent Mike Fiore Memorial Poker Run in early August from Toms River to Atlantic City and back was a fun lunch run for a good cause.

Beyond the Sunday Fun Days, destination poker runs such Tickfaw, runs to the Florida Keys and the Bahamas are great. Next year, a group of us are leaving our boats in Florida and will do five or six poker runs across the country. We will team up with others who will have their boats in New Jersey during the summer to do one-day fun runs between the poker runs. On the list right now are Jacksonville, Tickfaw, the Texas Outlaw Challenge, the Florida Powerboat Club’s Bahamas run and the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout.
Of course, between all of those will be our fun runs, a lot them on Sundays, in New Jersey.
