Sunday Fun Day: Bill Lemanske’s Unforgettable Father’s Day

Although not every father reading this today is going to have as good of a day as Michigan native Bill Lemanske, speedonthewater.com would like to wish all of the boating dads out there a safe and happy Father’s Day!

The Lemanskes—Bill, Billy and Lori—are a picture perfect example of the phrase “a family that boats together stays together.”

Lemanske, you see, is planning to spend the day with his son, Billy, and his wife, Lori, as the family heads to Mitcher T Custom Painting & Design in Middleville, Mich., to pick up its new Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats 390 Sport center console powered by a trio of Mercury Racing Verado 400R engines. In an interview on Friday, the poker run enthusiast and offshore racing aficionado seemed particularly excited to get the new center console—his second 39-footer from Nor-Tech—mainly because of the Verado 400R engines and the detailed paint job from Mitcher T, a talented painter he’s always admired but never hired to paint one of his boats.

Of course Lemanske doesn’t get a new boat every weekend so he said a typical Sunday Fun Day includes his wife and his son, both of whom love boating as much as he does, and a full day on the water in either their former 39-foot Nor-Tech or their 18-foot Airship RIB. And chances are if you see Bill and Lori at a poker run in Michigan, Florida, Canada or elsewhere, that “Little Billy,” who at almost 16 is not so little anymore, will be right there with them.

Mitcher T handled the paint job on the new 39-foot Nor-Tech ordered by Bill and Lori Lemanske.

“Billy loves boating just as much as Lori and I do, which is all we can really ask for,” Bill Lemanske said. “We try to get in the water on Sundays as often as we can. If we’re not boating in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., we’re boating around Michigan somewhere. Some of our normal stops in and around Michigan include Put-in-Bay, Lake Charlevoix and the Detroit River, which has some pretty cool destinations.

Lemanske said the new boat won’t be in the water today, but he’s hoping to get out on the other 39-footer, which is in the water (and for sale for anyone who is interested). He did say the family is going to run the stunning new Nor-Tech at next month’s Boyne Thunder Poker Run in Boyne City, Mich.
