Suncoast Summer Fest Touting ‘Waves And Wheels’ Grand Prix Weekend Bash

Boasting a display of offshore raceboats as well as exotic cars and motorcycles, the Suncoast Summer Fest “Waves And Wheels” party in advance of the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix will offer fans a chance to ogle outrageous hardware and meet the racers on Thursday, June 24. The celebratory welcome bash and exhibit will run from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Robart Arena in the famed Southwest Florida city.

Among the racers who’ll be on hand for the meet-and-great bash is Miss GEICO throttleman Steve Curtis—one of the sport’s most accomplished, gracious and approachable figures—who’ll share the cockpit of the Class 1 team’s 47-foot catamaran with driver Travis Pastrana.

“I always look forward to meeting fans, especially in Sarasota, which is one of longest-running races in the world,” said Curtis,

Tickets are $50 per person and must be purchased in advance. The Sarasota-based FCCI Insurance Group is the presenting sponsor for the happening. Proceeds will go to Suncoast Charities For Children.

Complimentary food and one drink ticket are covered in the admission price. The venue also will have a cash bar, as well as live entertainment featuring the Lucky Penny band.

The third-race in the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series, the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix is scheduled for Sunday, June 27.
