Whatever form it takes, the value of excellent timing cannot be discounted. Just ask Joe and Jen Grelulich, the delighted new owners of a 2022 Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats 390 Sport center console.
The Akron, Ohio, couple purchased the triple Mercury Racing 450R outboard engine-powered beauty from Michael Knoblock of American Custom Marine in Kimball, Mich. Knoblock had the “BMW Protonic Blue” 39-footer built as a display model for the winter boat-show season and still had it in inventory when the Grelulichs were ready to buy.
This Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console is the perfect boat for Joe and Jen Grelulich—at the perfect time.
They took delivery this spring and brought the boat on its custom trailer from MYCO Trailers to their summer home in Sandusky, Ohio.
“The deal worked out really well, especially as something you can get right now in the market is a bit of a unicorn,” said Joe Grelulich. “Before we took delivery about a month ago, I went out with Mike on the St. Clair River in the freezing cold. I went home and said to my wife, ‘Life is too short, we have to pull the trigger,’ and we bought it.
“This is the first go-fast boat we’ve owned—we also have an express cruiser—so Mike took his time with me,” he added. “He was great.”
As for where they are in their lives as parents, the timing proved equally excellent for the couple. The Grelulichs have two sons in college, both in college. Carter Grelulich is a senior. HIs brother, Payton, is a freshman.
During the summer, the couple will keep the 39-footer at their summer place in Sandusky, Ohio,
“We have been boaters all of our married lives, but now with the kids being in school we have more time to do more,” said Joe Grelulich. “This is the perfect time to marry our passion for boating and travel.”
To that end, they plan to keep the 39-footer in South Florida during the winter and use it in Florida Powerboat Club poker runs, which is something they’ve always wanted to do. Come summer, the boat will be back in Sandusky for pleasure/family boating on Lake Erie.
“Part of the reason we bought it was because we became enamored of the poker-run lifestyle and we want to explore the waters of South Florida,” he said. “But before that, we’re headed to the Boyne Thunder Poker Run this year.
“Last weekend, the boys were home and we ran it all weekend on Lake Erie,” he continued. “The water was perfect and the weather was beautiful.”
Timing, as the saying goes, is everything.
With an extra tank bringing total fuel capacity of their boat to 285 gallons, the Grelulichs will have plenty of range in their 39-footer.
