With the original buyer who ordered Skater Powerboats’ new 478 V-bottom opting out of the purchase, the folks at the Douglas, Mich., custom high-performance boat company have decided to showcase the model at the upcoming Miami International Boat Show Feb. 16-19. The 47-footer, which is powered by Mercury Racing 1100 engines and boasts a custom Waves and Wheels interior with a Focal stereo system, will be in the water at the Mercury Marine docks.
Demo rides in the Skater 478 will be offered to qualified buyers during the Miami event.
“I’m really, really excited about this boat,” said Tony Cutsuries, Skater’s national sales manager. “It’s super-efficient for the power—it’s run 123 mph so far should end up at 128, 129 mph with a different propeller. It’s very stable and smooth at high speed and has excellent handling manners. It’s just a great boat overall.”
Cutsuries said that demo rides in the 478 will be available for qualified buyers. The boat is priced at $849,000.

Thanks to New Jersey-based owner Steve Lane, the first Skater 318 catamaran equipped with Mercury Racing Verado 400R outboard engines also will be exhibited in Miami. (Since the 31-footer was released in late 2015, Skater reportedly has take seven more orders for the outboard-powered cat.) Rounding out the Skater offerings at the show will be a brand-new 388 cat powered by twin 1,100-hp supercharged engines from Sterling Performance.
