This isn’t the normal news you might read on speedonthewater.com, but it just so happens that on Wednesday morning a couple of new members were born into the celebrated Skater Nation. That being said we’d like to congratulate two of the most diehard Skater Powerboats fans we know, Michael Areces (below left) and AJ Phillip (below right), on the birth of their two children.
These two proud fathers—Michael Areces (left) and AJ Phillip—will never forget March 2, 2016.
The first, Jade Areces, was born at 4:21 a.m., to Michael and Brigette Areces of South Florida. Areces, who runs the 32-foot Skater Ruffled Feathers with his father, Frank, was ecstatic about the birth of his first child, and that it happened on the same day that his good friend welcomed his third child into the world.
Roughly seven hours later, at 10:17 a.m. in Louisiana, Phillip and Alison Lo Proto opened up their lives and hearts to their baby boy—Jett Michael Phillip.

Both moms and babies are doing great, according to Areces, and the two Skater brethren can’t wait to get their kids together and eventually share stories about how their babies were in the womb together at the 2015 Texas Outlaw Challenge and in Destin, Fla., for the Fourth of July.
“Two Skater babies were born today,” Areces said. “My baby girl, Jade, and my great friend from New Orleans, AJ Phillip’s baby boy, Jett. Now that’s a headline for you!”
