With sales of 24 new Mystic Powerboats M4200 luxury center consoles and four Mystic C4400 catamarans to its credit since both models were introduced at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show, Shogren Performance Marine is adding something smaller to the “boutique” line of high-end products it represents. The McHenry, Ill.-based company has reached an exclusive agreement with DCB Performance Boats in El Cajon, Calif., to sell outboard-powered DCB M29 catamarans in Missouri, as well as all states east of the Mississippi River.

Company principal Scott Sjogren said the outboard-powered 29-footer presents the perfect complement to his existing offerings.

The M29 exhibits all the build quality and performance found in DCB’s other catamarans.

“A lot of the buyers for the Mystic luxury center console came from high-performance catamarans,” he explained. “They’ve had their center consoles for a little while and now they’re asking for a second boat, a little hot rod that feeds their ‘need for speed.’ But at the same time, they also appreciate the reliability and ease of use of outboards they’ve experienced with their center consoles—and they want the same level of build quality. With outboard power, the DCB M29 is the perfect answer.”

DCB’s Jeff Johnston said he’s know Sjogren for many years and in fact used to work with him a lot back in the Powerboat magazine days.

“We talked it over and saw a great opportunity for both companies,” Johnston said. “We know Scott will do a great job for us and we’re looking forward to an enjoyable, professional relationship.

“Shogren also has the green light to take orders for all other DCB models,” he continued. “The only difference is that there is not a ‘designated territorial arrangement’ on those models.”

Sjogren said he’ll be adding another line of “boutique products” in the next month-and-a-half, but declined to provide additional detail.
