SCOPE Hosts Kickoff Party this Saturday, Poker Run Set for September

The premier offshore performance boating group in Southern California, the Southern California Offshore Powerboat Elite (SCOPE) club, has been going strong for nearly 20 years with a focus on safe and fun events for the whole family. This year appears to have more pleasurable get-together in store.

Starting with the club’s upcoming kickoff party—complete with food, drinks and live music—at Baca Marine in Huntington Beach, Calif., this Saturday (March 12) from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., SCOPE’s 2016 schedule includes Rock the Dock in Dana Point on May 27 and a weekend trip to the Pines Resort in Bass Lake from Aug.4-7. The club is also planning a social event around the Catalina Ski Race (July 16) and its annual Holiday Party is on the calendar for Dec. 3.

The organization’s main event—its annual poker run—is scheduled for Sept. 23-25 in Long Beach. According to Bill Steiner, one of the dedicated SCOPE board members, the club already has secured a block of hotel rooms and dock space for the ultimate in convenience for its members and other poker run participants. Steiner hinted that this year’s run could be the club’s best yet pointing to some potential new amenities from the launch ramp to local establishments currently in the works.
