Building off of a fun and successful 2014 season that included its 18th annual poker run in San Diego, the Southern California Offshore Powerboat Elite is preparing for its annual kickoff party this Saturday (Feb. 28). Hosted by Baca Marine and Pfaff Engines in Huntington Beach, Calif., the SCOPE party takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and features food, drinks, a live band and entertainment for the entire family, including a bounce house for the kids.
Along with its 19th annual poker run in San Diego in September, SCOPE will host its Lunch Run to Catalina two weeks later.
According to SCOPE Board Member Bryan Hakola, the entire club is excited about the upcoming boating season and can’t wait to return to the Kona Kai Resort in San Diego—the site of last fall’s poker run.
“We’re hoping to build off last year’s event that was held at Kona Kai for the first time,” Hakola said. “There’s some good buzz about our poker run and the other events we’re organizing this season.”
Along with the club’s 19th annual poker run, which takes place Sept. 11-13, SCOPE will host an off-water event in late March, Rock the Dock in Dana Point (May 23-25), Havasu Summer Fling (June 12-14), Bass Lake (July 30-Aug. 2), Lunch Run to Catalina (Sept. 26) and the season-ending holiday party (Dec. 5).
