Although his trip to Los Angeles last week was brief, Justin Wagner, owner of Waves and Wheels in Osage Beach, Mo., made the most out of it. Along with meeting with his company’s preferred speaker manufacturer—Focal in Camarillo, Calif.—Wagner took a tour of the Schiada Boats installation shop in Van Nuys, Calif., and ended up leaving with a new boat manufacturer account.

Along with a handful offshore performance boat builders that offer certified Waves and Wheels entertainment packages such as Mystic Powerboats and Statement Marine, Schiada will be utilizing the company’s design expertise to create high-quality, ready-to-install systems for its models ranging from 21 to 43 feet.
“We’re always trying to improve our product and we think between Focal and Waves and Wheels that we can do just that,” said Lee Spindler, president of Schiada. “We were looking for stereo equipment local to us and came across Focal. After talking with someone there I was told that one of their marine specialists from Missouri was coming to town soon and that they’d set it up to bring him by the shop.
“That guy was Justin, and as many people know, Justin brings a lot of knowledge to the table when it comes to stereos,” Spindler added. “He’s basically going to set everything up for us since we’re not stereo experts. It’s pretty straightforward stuff; at least he makes it seem that way.”
Wagner said the timing for the meeting was great since he had recently seen Schiada’s new luxury 43-footer powered by twin Mercury Racing 700SCi engines while walking around the Miami International Boat Show in February.
Schiada’s new luxury 43-footer was one of the highlights of the Miami International Boat Show in February.
“Yeah it was funny because I showed Justin a picture of the new 43, and he told me he saw the boat in Miami and was really impressed,” Spindler said. “So we were probably only several feet away from each other and we didn’t meet until a local stereo equipment company put us together on the other side of the country.”
Wagner said that he was blown away by the visit to Schiada.
“Lee and everyone else at Schiada was real cool,” Wagner said. “I was super impressed with the company’s 21 and 24 V-drives, too. I can’t wait to get started with those guys.”
