Scenes From Cocoa Beach: New CMR Raceboat Debut And More

With last night’s welcome party for teams and VIP-package offshore racing fans at Juice ‘N Java, the 2022 season officially kicked off in Cocoa Beach, Fla. Thunder On Cocoa Beach, the first of eight races in the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series, is set for Sunday morning.

According to Thunder On Cocoa Beach race director Kerry Bartlett, more than 400 people enjoyed last night’s reception, which has become a tradition for the event.

“Last night’s party at Juice ‘N Java night party was, as usual, and incredible kick off to a weekend-long event here in Cocoa Beach,” Bartlett said. “Race fans and locals were excited to see the boats back in town.”

Among the raceboats displayed last night in the venue’s parking lot was the new CMR Roofing and Construction catamaran, a 32-foot Doug Wright beatuy that Shaun Torrente and Sean Conner will campaign in the Super Stock class this season. Torrente and his crew at Shaun Torrente Racing reportedly put in significant hours during the past few weeks to get the cat ready in time for the season-opener. Fresh from testing the Team Abu Dhabia F1 H2O tunnel boat, Torrente flew from Milan, Italy, today to compete this weekend.
