Scanning A Busy Fall Event Schedule

For speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden, event coverage—beyond offshore races in his home state of Florida—typically slows down after Labor Day weekend. But that won’t happen this year thanks to new, rescheduled and returning events in the busiest fall go-fast boating season in recent history.

Better late than never, the Florida Powerboat Club’s Tampa Bay Poker Run returns at the end of this month. Photos by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.

Here’s a quick look at what’s on tap for the next three months:

September 11-13: Though technically not a fall happening as autumn officially begins on September 22, the Offshore Powerboat Association’s Crystal Coast Grand Prix comes to Morehead City, N.C., this weekend.

September 19: The fourth annual Waves and Wheels Fun Run takes to the waters of the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri.

September 24-27: Rescheduled from spring, the Florida Powerboat Club’s Tampa Bay Poker Run already has 40-plus boats registered.

September 25: The team at MTI is organizing a new event for its owners—a fall fun run at Missouri’s Lake of the Ozarks. Contact MTI’s Taylor Scism for more information.

October 2-3: Sponsored by Performance Boat Center, Offshore At The Ozarks-Cat Edition produced by the Offshore Powerboat Association brings head-to-head powerboat racing to the Lake of the Ozarks for the first time this year.

October 9-10: The inaugural Roar Offshore Fun Run sponsored by Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats kicks off in the Fort Myers, Fla., area.

October 10: Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., has some fun things in store for the dealership’s 10th annual Fall Fun Run on Lake of the Ozarks.

November 11-16: Though the Race World Offshore Key West Championships are off this year, the Florida Powerboat Club’s Key West Poker Run remains very much on, according to FPC head Stu Jones.

November 19-21: The Offshore Powerboat Association World Championships in Englewood Beach, Fla., are still on the American Power Boat Association member-organization schedule.

Thanks to Performance Boat Center and the Offshore Powerboat Association, powerboat racing will happen at the Lake of the Ozarks in October.
