Starting with its season-opener May 15 in Cocoa Beach, Fla., Super Boat International’s online streaming race coverage will be available to fans on a pay-per-view basis, according to a news release that went live today on the organization’s website. According to the release, “a Season Pass is available online to receive both live and replay action of every race, including Key West, for the SBI 2016 offshore racing season.”
The cost of a season pass before the first race of the year is $34.95. It includes all six SBI regular-season races as well as the three races of the SBI Offshore World Championships in November. The package offer will be available for a limited time before the season begins. Individual per–race prices will start at $5.99 for each series race, according to the release.
SBI has moved from free all-access Livestream entertainment to a registration-required pay-per-view platform in an effort to restrict unlicensed broadcast of live entertainment in international markets, according to the story. The release stated: “The global reach to more than 108 countries for the multi-race/day-long content has manifested into content being re-purposed and broadcasted without the written consent of Super Boat International. We are looking forward to a great season of racing.”
Interested viewers can purchase their pay-per-view packages now through the SBI website.
