Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Secures Television Coverage

Thanks to what longtime organizer Lucy Nicandri is calling “generous support” from the Cleveland ConstructionWHM Motorsports and Performance Boat Center teams, the 2017 Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix will have significant television coverage on Fox Sports. From Powerboat P1 SuperStock single-outboard-engine open-cockit V-bottoms to Super Cat twin-engine canopied catamarans, racing action is set for Saturday, July 1, and Sunday, July 2, the final two days of the weeklong event, which raises money for Suncoast Charities For Children.

The one-hour Fox Sports televsion program covering the 2017 Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix will devote 30 minutes exclusively to the Super Cat class.

“I have been working directly with Mark Small from Cleveland Construction to pull it all together,” said Nicandri.

Half of the 60-minute Fox Sports television special on the Sarasota races will be dedicated to the Super Cat class, Nicandri said. In addition to Cleveland Construction, WHM Motorsports and Performance Boat Center, the STIHL and FB Marine Group/Sailor Jerry teams reportedly have confirmed plans to compete in the class.

The balance of the show TV program will feature classes from P6 up to Unlimited. Separate shows will air on Fox featuring AquaX personal watecraft and P1 Superstock race teams.

According to a press release from the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix, “Fox Sports has extended its reach with One World Sports, Comcast Sportsnet and the Nautical Channel running at least 50 episodes into 70 million unique homes in 193 countries—up from 137 countries last year.”

Specific air dates and times for the program have not been announced.
