Sanctioned for the first time this year by the Offshore Powerboat Grand Prix organization, the Sarasota Grand Prix Festival July 4-5 has announced the payout figures for the various classes offered in the annual Florida event. The total prize purse to be distributed in seven classes is $71,000, according to the release a press release from the event’s organizers. The basic titles and specifications for each class, as well entry fees, were also announced. The breakdown is:
Extreme—Prize Payout $12,000

(Specs: Catamarans or V-bottoms with unlimited horsepower including piston and turbine engines.)

(Specs: Canopied catamarans 36-40 feet in length limited to 525 Mercury spec. class 750 engines—525-powered boats will get a handicap lap.

Classes with less than six boats will split the first-place prize money for the class depending on finishing order, according to the release.
