RP Elite Motors And Marine Celebrates New Digs With Second Skater Event At Lake Of The Ozarks

There are ways to survive the kind of face-melting, dizzying heat folks in town for the 35th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout this week are experiencing. Maintaining a constant flow of air moving over your body and then heading for a swimming pool is one of them. And that’s exactly what 18 Skater Powerboats owners and their guests did yesterday in the second-year Skater Helicopter Shoot and Fun Run sponsored by RP Elite Motors and Marine of Springtown, Texas, on the Central Missouri waterway.

Justin Beischel had no trouble circulating air for passengers aboard his Skater 368 catamaran during yesterday’s Skater Helicopter Shoot and Fun Run sponsored by  RP Elite Motors and Marine. Photos by Pete Boden copyright Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.

“This was our second year sponsoring this shoot and fun run,” said Ross Ramsey, the owner of RP Elite Motors and Marine, the sole official dealership for the Skater Powerboats brand of custom high-performance catamarans. “We had Tom Kline Helicopters flying Pete Boden of Shoot 2 Thrill Pix shooting stills and Erick Bryner of Fast and Loud Photography capturing video.

Ramsey and his team have been busy this year completing a new 20,000-square-foot facility to house and display their elite product offerings. But they weren’t too busy to bring back a popular event with Skater owners to the Lake of the Ozarks ahead of this weekend’s top-speed contest.

Said Ramsey, “The Skater brand has such a great heritage.”

“Our new place took a year to build,” Ramsey explained. “Our new building consists of a showroom for our auto and marine inventory. Our marine service center now has its own section in the new building. We also now have a detail/wash bay for inventory and our sister company, Aim Auto Care stays with us under one roof and offers ceramic coatings, tint and PPF.

“We moved our offices above the showroom to keep the floor space very open,” he added. “We certainly needed the extra space and we are now all moved and settled in.”

The Skater cats started at Dog Days Bar and Grill in Osage Beach and ran to Coconuts Caribbean Beach Bar and Grill in Gravois Mills to cool off in the waterfront hotspot’s swimming pool.

Yesterday’s fleet was loaded with notable Skater creations.

“It was a good run,” said participant Justin Beischel of Cincinnati, the owner of a Skater 368 catamaran called Short Circuit, who also joined the 2022 event, with his wife, Johnna. “Anytime you get to run with such an elite group of boats, it’s a great time.”

Ramsey, who currently has four Skater catamarans in the works at the Douglas, Mich., facility, agreed. The second-year happening was a dry run of sorts for the laidback Texan, as RP Elite will be hosting Skaterfest on Lake Texoma in 2024.

“It was very cool to see the variety of Skater models in the run,” he said. “From past and present raceboats to modern pleasure-boats, the Skater brand has such a great heritage. And the Lake of the Ozarks never disappoints.”

The Skater fleet dressed up the docks at Coconuts, the group’s destination for the day.
