With the planned debut of Chad and Heather Collier’s new Mystic Powerboats C4400 catamaran at the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run in Louisiana just a few weeks away, rigging work on the 44-footer, which will be powered by twin Mercury Racing 1350 engines, is in major motion. That’s the word from Scott Sjogren of Mystic Powerboat Sales, who is currently in town at the company’s headquarters in DeLand, Fla., and in the process of delivering his second Mystic M4200 luxury center console this week.

“We’re working our tails off to get this boat ready for Tickfaw,” said Sjogren. “The whole team at Mystic is working to make it happen. Today they were pulling wires and harnesses, getting the engines in place, positioning motor mounts and fabricating parts.”

By the time Collier’s catamaran is ready to leave the Mystic plant, “hundreds” of man hours will have gone into its rigging, Sjogren said.
“Rigging a catamaran like this is in another Zip Code from hanging outboards on a center console,” he said, then laughed. “By the time we finish cutting the transom and installing drive assemblies, we would have installed four outboards on an M4200 center console. But it’s going to be worth it. It’s definitely going to set a new standard for catamarans with its low profile—we cut down the deck five inches—new interior and Stephen Miles paintjob. It’s a totally different boat than the other C4400s we’ve built.”
