Renegade Showcases First 38’ Open Carbon Edition

The team at Renegade Powerboats in Hialeah, Fla., proudly released its first 38’ Open Carbon Edition center console model recently and Randy Kent, owner of Marine Concepts Motorsports in Missouri, was thrilled to take the boat, which is powered by triple Mercury Racing 400R engines, on its maiden voyage during last month’s Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run.

“I had the great opportunity to take the boat to Key West,” said Kent, who is a Renegade dealer. “It felt very agile and nimble. The tracking and ride are incredible and are sure to impress even the most experienced boater. Renegade has a great bottom, so the ride always sells the boat. But the interiors that the company is now pulling off are up there with the best in the industry in my opinion. Manny (Oses), the owner of Renegade, is always thinking of new things—and he seems to have a never-ending supply of new ideas.”

Kent pointed out that the new 38’ Open’s hardtop, console and seats are made of carbon fiber, which shaved roughly 1,000 pounds off the boat’s overall weight and lowered the center of gravity for even better handling.

Dressed in elegant ice pearl white graphics with black trim, the 38-footer includes a substantial cabin with a full-size 6-foot, 3-inch mattress, plus a porcelain pump-out head and shower. Kent added that the boat’s new-style forward-facing front lounge chairs provide a comfortable and secure ride for passengers up front, and that its huge storage lockers under the lounges and seats are all insulated with drainage so they can double as coolers. Aft of the second row of bolster seats under the T-top is a nice serving station that features a sink and a grill with two cold plate drawers and a padded slide-out cooler below

Other cool aspects of the 38’ Open include the Anchor Video system so the driver can see the anchor position before locking it in place and the piano black dash with flush-mounted Simrad displays that create a glass cockpit look. Renegade’s unique jet-plane-style dive door got a lot of attention in Key West, according to Kent, as did the boat’s sky lights that complement the carbon top and provide just enough sun exposure to produce an open-air feeling.

Kent said another neat feature he hasn’t seen on other center consoles is the custom rain shower that comes out of the hardtop just in front of the dive door to make rinsing off easy for those getting out of the water.

Kent also revealed that the boat is for sale, with a competitive asking price of $469,000. He said to call him at 877-601-BOAT for more information.
