Ramsberger Named President Of U.S. Operations For Powerboat P1

The chief operating officer of the Southwest Florida-based Visit St. Pete/Clearwater organization since 2016, Tim Ramsberger is moving on to become the president and chief executive officer of United States operations for Powerboat P1, an international marine motorsport promoter headquartered in the United Kingdom. Effectively immediate, the news was announced this morning in a press release from the Powerboat P1 management group.

According to the release, the Florida-based Ramsberger is “vastly experienced, with considerable knowledge of the sports, entertainment and tourism industries.”

Powerboat P1 chief executive officer Azam Rangoonwala will continue his global role at the London office and become Chairman of Powerboat P1 USA.

“I’m thrilled and honored to join the P1 team and lead our efforts to set a new standard of excellence for offshore racing,” said Ramsberger in the release. “Growing up in and around a variety of watersports together with my professional career in international events, motorsports and other aspirational lifestyle sports and events provides a solid foundation for the new journey ahead.”

With what the release described as “a proven track-record in business development,” Ramsberger brings more than three decades of executive business, legal, sports management and tourism experience for global organizations including Disney Sports, FIFA World Cup, Olympic Organizing Committee, Andretti Sports Marketing and Indy Car.

“In a rapidly evolving and highly competitive sports industry still dealing with the impact of the pandemic, it’s vital that we look at our business differently and find new ways to continue to develop our primary market in the United States and increase revenues for reinvestment in the sport’s future growth,” Rangoonwala said. “This new role reflects that need and positions Powerboat P1 not only to exploit new revenue streams for the benefit of the sport but also to make marine motorsports more attractive and accessible.

“Tim’s extensive experience and accomplishments in key sectors such as financial and strategic planning, operational management, sponsorship and partnership development, and sports and entertainment law make him ideally placed to lead our U.S. team at this exciting time,” he added. “I am looking forward to working with him to develop our existing business and to identify and convert new opportunities.”
