Following its decision earlier this week to scrub its 2020 Key West Championships, Race World Offshore has cancelled its Clearwater, Fla., event. The Southwest Florida contest, which was scheduled for September 25-27, was the final race remaining on the Key West-based organization’s schedule for the year.

Race World Offshore announced the decision on Thursday—two days after cancelling its weeklong Key West happening—in a press release on its website.
“With kids (possibly) returning to school and many people navigating these tough times, we are all experiencing some challenging decisions,” wrote Larry Bleil, the president of Race World Offshore, in the release. “Due to the uncertainty among us all, we have officially canceled the Clearwater Nationals race this coming September and any other opportunities, out of respect for everyone involved.”
Just three races—all on the Offshore Powerboat Association schedule as currently listed on its website—remain on the 2020 offshore racing roster. They are: September 11-13 in Morehead City, N.C.; September 25-27 in Atlantic City, N.J.; and November 19-22 in Englewood Beach, N.J.
Said Bleil via text message this morning, “We’ll be working hard for next year with many new ideas.”
