Race World Offshore 7 Mile Offshore Grand Prix Registration Settles At 65 Boats

Starting almost a full month earlier than it has in recent years, the offshore racing season is off to a robust start with 65 boats registered for this weekend’s inaugural 7 Mile Offshore Grand Prix in Marathon, Fla. Most teams are either already in town for the Race World Offshore-produced event presented by Performance Boat Center and the M CON Offshore Racing team, the first of five races in the American Power Boat Association Offshore National Championship Series, at the Middle Florida Keys venue.

“We had a great preregistration and in the last 10 days we got a big push,” said Rodrick Cox of Race World Offshore. “We are excited to be producing the first race of the season, especially with such a strong turnout.”

Of the 65 teams signed up for Sunday’s race, 11 are in the Super Stock class, 10 are in the Mod V category, nine are in the Super Cat ranks and six are registered in the 450R Factory Stock category. The Bracket 700 class has excellent representation with its eight-boat fleet, followed by Bracket 500 with seven boats in the mix and four teams in the Bracket 200 class.

The race pits are open today for spectators to visit until 5 p.m. The 7 Mile Offshore Grand Prix at Aquarium Encounters starts at 5:30 p.m., followed by the event’s after-party at its Faro Blanco Resort and Yacht Club host hotel venue.
