Nor-Tech Performance Boats has built eight or nine four-engine catamarans during the years, but the 52-footer currently in the rigging stage at the Cape Coral, Fla., company is the most potent one so far. That’s because it’s being set up with four 1,350-hp turbocharged Mercury Racing engines.
“Quad engine boats are not new to us, but this one will be the most extreme to date,” said Terry Sobo, Nor-Tech’s director of sales and marketing. “We’re probably six weeks out from getting it in the water.
Sobo said that boat is going to a first-time Nor-Tech buyer in the Middle East, but declined to name the client. He also declined to provide an estimated top speed for the open-cockpit 52-footer.
“It’s going to be fast, that’s for sure,” he said.
