Despite all the tough news that has come out of the offshore powerboat racing world this year, there have been a couple of bright spots. Super Stock-class rookies Shaun Torrente and Eric Belisle kicked butt in a competitive six-boat fleet during the Crystal Coast Grand Prix in Morehead City, N.C., a couple of weeks ago. Performance Boat Center stepped up to sponsor the upcoming Offshore At The Ozarks-Cat Edition early next month the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri.
Captured here hiking Table Mountain in South Africa, Azam and Hurriyah Rangoonwala are expecting their first child in February.
Make that three bright spots: Powerboat P1 head Azam Rangoonwala, whose group partnered with the Offshore Powerboat Association to produce the 2019 American Power Boat Association Championship Series, and his breathtaking wife, Hurriyah, are expecting their first baby—a girl—in February 2021.
Azam and Hurriyah Rangoonwala, who live in London, were married in late May. They could not be more excited about becoming parents early next year.
“We haven’t picked out a name yet,” he said. “But we have a whole list of them.”
The only possible glitch? The baby is due during the week of the Miami International Boat Show.
“Yeah, well, I may have to miss Miami next year,” Rangoonwala said, then laughed.
