By the time you read this, most of the high-performance catamarans, V-bottoms and center consoles participating in this weekend’s Jacksonville River Rally and Fun Run will be back at the docks. Their owners and guests will be getting ready for tonight’s post-run dinner celebration, which at least in part will be devoted to raising money for Camp Amigo, the Northern Florida event’s longtime charity dedicated to helping children heal from the emotional and physical scars of severe burn injuries. It’s a noble cause, to be sure, and one event organizer Greg Harris holds dear.
The best way to beat the heat today on the St. Johns River today in Jacksonville was to push the throttles forward. Photos courtesy/copyright Pete Boden/Shoot 2 Thrill Pix.
With daytime temperatures hovering in the mid-90s in the area yesterday and today, participants did their best to stay cool on the waters of the St. Johns River and likely are ready for a little air-conditioned time. We know speedonthewater.com chief photographer Pete Boden is—in fact he’s already there and he sent us the images for this gallery—especially after shooting last weekend’s fourth annual Cigarette Owners Rendezvous in crushing heat on the Lake of the Ozarks in Central Missouri.
