Last Saturday’s sixth annual Arcuri for Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba—also known as SUDS—Fundraiser in Brick N.J., reportedly brought in $78,000 for the nonprofit organization. According to the SUDS website, the SUDS program is designed “to help improve the lives of wounded, ill and injured service men and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.”
For the second time in as many years, photographer Tim Sharkey was on hand to capture the daylong event, which included high-powerboat rides, lunch and dinner—courtesy of RSG/Jack Gregory Catering—and live entertainment for the 400-plus participants. As usual, members of the Garden State go-fast boating community stepped up in a big way to support the SUDS veterans and their families and get them on the water.

A message posted shortly after the event on the Arcuri for SUDS Facebook page read:
“This awe-inspiring organization has become so important to our family and friends and we are blessed to be able to give back to the brave men and women that fight everyday for our freedom. Thank you to Ray Malaspina and Dave Magliaro for opening your homes to us, thank you to our amazing volunteers for all your hard work and dedication, thank you to our guests for their incredible generosity, and thank you to all the SUDS warriors who came to enjoy a beautiful day with us. We’ll see you all next year.”
