Since retiring a couple of years ago as president of Fort Myers Offshore, a nonprofit college scholarship fundraising organization on Florida’s west coast, Bob Barnhart has found a little more time to pursue a couple of his favorite hobbies—performance boating in stunning destinations and aerial drone photography. And as you can see from his images of the club’s lunch run to Burn Store Marina on Cass Cay yesterday, those activities dovetail beautifully.

As for the run itself, it was yet another FMO success despite breezy conditions.
“We had a great time, but Mother Nature threw us another curve ball,” said Eric Belisle. “The weather was warm and the skies were sunny, but the winds picked up to 20 mph. Some of the 35 boats registered did not make the run.
“Most of the folks who were not able to go by boat came by car or motorcycle,” he continued. “Burnt Store is always a great venue and they once again gave us the entire outside covered patio. The total head count was 152 people.”

In a post on his Facebook page, Barnhart thanked club member Drew Phyfe on behalf of FMO for “putting a lot of work” into organizing the run, which was the sixth of event the club’s 2016/2017 season.
Next up for FMO is its Double R Performance-sponsored weekend run to the Sarasota on March 31.
