Scheduled for July 21-23, the Sarnia Summer Splash charity poker run organized by the Performance Boat Club of Canada has been cancelled. The news was announced in a press release from the nonprofit club’s board of directors today.
According to the release, the launch ramp in Sarnia is closed and slated to be rebuilt in time for the event.

“The city has not started construction and we were not confident that it would be ready in time for our event,” the release stated. “Although other marinas in the Belle River/Windsor area have launch ramps, none have enough dockage to accommodate all the boats and we would be spread out over two or three marinas.
“We would like to thank Steve Gelinas at Sarnia Bay Marina, Rob Troup at The Sandbar Waterfront Cafe, Kellie from Lakeview Park Marina, Mary at Belle River marina, new member Richard Marier, Mike from Ranta marina and all the others who offered their help and services,” the release continued. “We will be back next year when construction has been complete and we hope you will join us. The 2018 date will be announced later this year.
The club’s next event is the Georgian Bay Fun Run July 7-10.
