Several years ago, Performance Boat Center of Osage Beach, Mo., opened an outpost in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The facility served the full-service MTI, Performance Powerboats and Sunsation Boats dealership’s storage and concierge service needs. But it wasn’t a proper showroom, at least one up to the high standards of Performance Boat Center partners Brett Manire and Mark Waddington.

Performance Boat Center now has a South Florida showroom worthy of its name.

Dubbed the “Highway Store” by Manire and company for its Highway 84/South Andrews Avenue location, the company’s dealership recently opened, super-modern showroom changed that.

“We have been working on it for the past two months with drywall, paint and fixtures, and we opened it about week before the Fort Lauderdale show,” he explained. “It is completely renovated but we are still moving in. The location currently has a Performance Powerboats P280 catamaran, a handful of center and a compact Iron-brand sportboat.

“It’s very modern, but it also has the same look and feel as our Osage Beach location—we really wanted that,” he added, then chuckled. “I was in Fort Lauderdale for the show last, but I actually haven’t set foot in it yet. I’ve had no time.”

The Performance Boat Center team is still putting the final touches on the new location.

Currently in Missouri, Manire will arrive in Key West, Fla., on Thursday for the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Powerboat Week event and Race World Offshore Key World Championships. On the heels of what he described as a “great” Fort Lauderdale show, he’s looking forward to doing even better in Key West.

“We always knock it out of the park in Key West,” he said. “We will have a P420 catamaran, a Sunsation 32 CCX and a 34 CCS at the docks in front of the Conch Republic and we’ll be doing demos on Friday and Saturday. We’re also tied into with Mercury Racing to help provide service and parts for boat owners in Key West, as well as during the trip down.”
