Just two months after agreeing to purchase the first Cigarette Racing Team 42X ordered by Performance Boat Center since the Osage Beach, Mo., company became a Cigarette dealer in October (read the story), Louisiana’s Scott Favre took delivery of his new 42-foot V-bottom powered by a pair of 1,100-hp Mercury Racing engines this week.
Twin turbocharged Mercury Racing 1100 engines power Scott Favre’s new Cigarette Racing 42X.
Favre, who bought the boat after getting to see it being built at the Cigarette factory during the Miami International Boat Show in February, is overjoyed with his new ride.
“We put the boat in the water Wednesday and wow is it fantastic,” said Favre, who received the 42X just in time for the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run (May 1-2). “I really don’t know how to describe it. I can’t say my 38-foot Fountain with Mercury 700s wasn’t a great boat because I loved it and we had so much fun in it, but the Cigarette is something else. The fit and finish of the boat and its overall quality is just unbelievable.
“The 42X with this power really is a dream ride,” he continued. “The throttle response is amazing and the boat handles so well over 100 mph. I’m kind of surprised how stable a V-hull can be at those speeds. What also impresses me is the low end—the idling and docking is like nothing I’ve driven before. We ran the boat for three hours yesterday and had no issues.”
After the Tickfaw 200 Poker Run, Favre said he plans to take the 42-footer to the Smokin’ the Sound Poker Run (May 29-31) in Biloxi, Miss., and the Emerald Coast Poker Run (Aug. 19-23) in Destin, Fla. He’s also thinking about heading to Missouri for the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout (Aug. 21-30) and Florida for the Key West Poker Run (Nov. 10-16).
“I’m still trying to soak all of this in really,” Favre, whose family owns Performance Contractors Inc., which provides industrial construction and maintenance services in 27 states. “The attention to detail of this boat is phenomenal. And everyone from Cigarette and Performance Boat Center has been great to work with. It was a quick deal, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
