From the 113-boat, sixth annual Cigarette Owners Rendezvous to last Friday’s intimate 20-boat MTI Fun Run, Performance Boat Center in Osage Beach, Mo., produced a parade of events this season on the Lake of the Ozarks. And the multi-brand, full-service dealership sponsors at least as many happenings as it produces, such as this the annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and this weekend’s first-year Offshore At The Ozarks-Cat Edition event. Proprietors Mark Waddington and Brett Marnie view event-production as a customer service and it’s been a boon not just for their business but in fostering growth in the local boating community.

Just one weekend after the raceboats depart the Offshore Powerboat Association-organized event, Performance Boat Center will launch its last event of the season, its annual Fall Fun Run. Set for Saturday, October 10, it is the dealership’s most casual happenings—and among the most cherished by local performance-boat owners and their friends—of the year.
The event is so low-key that Manire, without question one of the lake’s busiest men, actually enjoys it.
“I love the Fall Fun Run—it’s so fun,” he said. “This year, we leave Performance Boat Center for lunch at Lake Burger. Then we have two stops on the way back to PBC.
“It’s almost time to relax and enjoy some slower time,” he added.
A pool party from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Lakeside Grill adjacent to Performance Boat Center will follow fun run.
Though Manire said he is expecting 30 boats this time around, the event attracted 50 boats in 2019. Per its casual nature, the event has no registration fee but does require RSVP, which can be handled via email or phone/text to 402-304-5342.
