Performance Boat Center and Outerlimits Going Big for Shootout

Along with Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats owner Mike Fiore (center), the Performance Boat Center crew is expecting big things at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout.

In the summer months, let alone three weeks before the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout festivities begin, Brett Manire of Performance Boat Center in Camdenton, Mo., is not an easy man to nail down for an interview. Fortunately Manire had a few minutes today to fill us in on what he and the Performance Boat Center crew have in store for the 25th annual event.

“Performance Boat Center has a bunch of docks reserved at Captain Ron’s on Saturday and Sunday for the Shootout,” Manire said. “Along with displaying and running our boats over the weekend, we’ll also have a couple of boats at Wednesday’s party in the park, be hosting an invitation-only VIP party on Thursday night and doing the poker run on Friday.”

When Manire says “we,” he’s including the two new 52 Super Leggera (SL) models from Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats—one with twin Mercury Racing 1650 Race engines and another with twin Mercury 1350s—the all-new 36 SL with Mercury power and a new Statement Marine 35 SUV with twin Mercury Verado 300 engines.

And those are just the brand new boats. Dustin Whipple of Whipple Superchargers will have his 43-foot Outerlimits V-bottom in town and there will be a handful of other Outerlimits models from 29 to 50 feet on hand for the Shootout.

Manire was hoping that the future home of Performance Boat Center would be ready in time for this year’s event, but that was a lofty goal as the new marina—Redhead Yacht Club at mile marker 21—is still in the early stages of development. He said the property is nearly cleared and graded and construction on the four performance boat buildings and the Bikinis Bar and Grill is set to begin soon. He expects the new facility to be open in the spring of 2014.
