Though the International Hot Rod Association announced earlier this month that it was putting up a $250,000 purse for the 2025 Race World Offshore-produced Key West Offshore World Championships, class-by-class payout details had not been finalized. The complete distribution news follows on the heels of significant news the IHRA made Friday when it announced it had purchased Powerboat P1 USA/P1 Offshore from the Rangoonwala family.

Buzz about the purse in the offshore racing community since it was announced—and for reasons beyond the obvious financial incentive.

“Prize money legitimizes all involved including sponsors, promotors and racers,” explained Chris Hopgood, the owner and driver of the Super Stock-class CELSIUS team. “It is a win-win for all and an investment back into the sport, the marine industry and local economy.”
