Hull lamination is complete and deck lamination is underway on the latest SL 50 V-bottom from Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats in Bristol, R.I. As reported previously, longtime Outerlimits customer Dave Scotto ordered the boat, which has a black gelcoat bottom, in mid-March. When completed, Scotto’s boat will be third lower-profile-deck 50-footer built by the custom performance-boat company.
Hull lamination is complete for Scotto’s new all-carbon-fiber 50-footer.
“The hull is out of the mold and we’re laminating the deck now,” said Dan Kleitz. “Dave made a final decision on power, and its going to be the twin Mercury Racing 1550 engines we’d been talking about. He’s also ordered a really cool trailer from Performance Custom Trailers in New York.”
Mark Morris of the noted Visual Imagination paint shop in Pelicular, Mo., will be handling the graphics design and application for the all-carbon-fiber boat. According to Kleitz, the color scheme will incorporate sections of clear carbon fiber on the 50-footer’s exterior and interior.

“We use real carbon fiber in our boats—we don’t paint it on,” said Kleitz. “So we can use it as a graphic element and it looks great.”
