Yesterday’s first on-water tests of a new Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats SL 44 V-bottom went flawlessly according to Dan Kleitz, the production manager for the Bristol, R.I., custom high-performance powerboat company. A staple of the Outerlimits line, the stand-up cockpit 44-footer is powered by twin staggered Mercury Racing 700 SCi engines with No. 6 dry sump drives.
As recorded on the boat’s GPS system, top speed during yesterday’s tests was 112 mph with its twin Mercury Racing CNC 17- 1/4” x 37” propellers (900-hp thickness) “on the limiters,” according to Kleitz.

“Everything went really well today—we’re happy with it,” said Kleitz. “On Monday, we’ll give it a full detail so the clients (Mark and Karen Tindale) can pick it up and take it home on Tuesday.”
