Named for the son of Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats founder Mike Fiore, Jet, a 46-foot Outerlimits catamaran powered by twin Mercury Racing dual-calibration 1350/1100 engines and owned by Burton Kirsten of Michigan, arrived at Stephen Miles Design in Owensboro, Ky., for its paintjob this week. Kirsten also owns a DCB Performance Boats M29 catamaran and a 39-foot canopied Outerlimits cat with Mercury Racing 1100s. The primarily green-hued 39-footer currently is for sale.
Kirsten chose blue over green for his new catamaran being painted at Stephen Miles Design (click image to enlarge).
Working closely with Miles, Kirsten opted for a somewhat more subtle color scheme for his new canopied catamaran than his last one.
“I decided to leave the green alone for a bit,” he said. “It seems like everybody is doing green now” he said. “So we went with blue. Stephen is an awesome guy to work with. He has a passion that’s unbelievable.”
After the paintwork is complete, the boat will be sent back to Outerlimits in Bristol, R.I., for interior and engine installation. According Kirsten, it should be ready in time for the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout week in Central Missouri in August.

“With my other boat, I really wished sometimes that I had 1350s, but I wasn’t sure I’d always be able to get the right fuel,” said Kirsten. “So that’s why I went with the 1350/1100s. The 1100s were bulletproof. I did seven poker runs last season and never had a single problem. I’m also really excited about the trailer Jeff at Adrenaline Trailers in Lake Havasu City (Ariz.) is building for the 46 cat. It’s going to be incredible.”
